*Postage Price*

I'm really sorry everyone but I'm afraid to say that my UK courier has raised it's prices!!!!
Obviously because of the huge price hike by The Royal Mail in April they've decided they can do the same, so I'm really, really sorry to say that Vintage Amethyst has had to raise it's postal prices too!

Standard UK price is now £4.50 an increase of £1 on postage as of yesterday.
This price is for up to 2kg though so you will be able to buy more for this price.

I'm really sorry to have to increase postage yet again but I'm afraid I am at the mercy of postal carriers.
I lose money on postage due the price of packaging on top of the price of the postage itself, so please understand that I do try to keep postage prices as low as I possibly can.

Sorry for such rubbish news everyone!

Anyhoo, back to these sweet birdcages ...

These are really pretty decorative vintage style birdcage for the home.
It is painted a soft 'off-white' & is slightly distressed for a pretty 'Shabby Chic' style.
It features a pretty pattern at the base & has a door that opens & also a tray that slides out at the bottom.
It also has a hook at the top so that it can be hung up.
It would look pretty in any home or outdoors with a small planter inside or hung from a tree.
Would also look beautiful as a table decoration for a wedding especially wrapped with one of the pretty rose garlands à la the photo on the book!

*My Book Cover!!!*

I've been keeping a little secret!
In March I was approached by a publisher in Italy who asked if they could use a photo of mine for the front cover of their latest publication!

I know, crazy right?

Oh course I agreed & got paid handsomely too!

I couldn't wait for the publication date which was in April & I received my copy this week & here it is!!!!

It is an Agatha Christie writing as Mary Westmacott book which I was absolutely thrilled about as I love love love Agatha Christie novels!!!
I just wish that my wonderful Mum & Nana were here to see it as they too were huge readers like me & fans of Agatha Christie too!
They would have absolutely loved this!

*eek*
There is my name on the back cover!!!!

I find it terribly odd, it is as if it isn't a real book!!!
But it is!

It is only available in Italy & you can buy it from
the Italian Amazon

*Junk Genius Book Review*

by Juliette Goggin & Stacy Sirk
is a wonderful craft book based on ways to repurpose everyday objects.

This book is a really lovely hard backed book, it is a woven backed with no dust cover & each page is just deliciously lovely & papery!
It is a very well presented book & as soon as I get my hands on it I want to dive right in & see what's on offer!

The craft ideas are simple crafts using items you can easily find in the home (if you are a hoarder!) or in charity shops & car boot fairs.
I was immediately drawn to this little craft idea of making charm bracelets from little bits & pieces. 1. because I used to make jewellery & 2. because as you may be able to see there is one made from old bottle tops & my husband James as many of you know is an artist & actually paints old bottle tops (these paintings are super popular!!!) & we have hundreds of these cuties, so I may have to pinch some & make myself a cute bracelet!

I fell in love with this old tape measure rosette.

How quirky & cute is this lace doily lampshade idea!

I just love this idea of using old cotton reels as hooks.

I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to things like old wooden cotton reels as I just love them & this is a perfect way to use them.

Another really cute idea for hooks is this on in the book using ceramic knobs too!

These glass tea-light holders look so pretty with their little makeover of lace trim perfect for old glasses & old doilies.

How lovely is this idea to use old loaf tins as wall scones?

Oh my, I thought I'd died & gone to junk heaven when I saw this junking makeover using old pastry cutters as a pendant lamp!

Found some old lampshades but the material is too far gone to save or you simply don't like it?
Then take that material off & use the lampshade bases for tables!!!

Junk Genius is filled with cute & quirky craft ideas & the book is divided into seven chapters ..
Jewelry & Decoration
Fabric & Trims
Paper & Card
China & Wood
Glass & Mirror
Metal & Wire
Furniture & Furnishings

Each chapter is filled with delicious photos & simple 'how to' descriptions for upcycling.

I just love this book, this is a book I can return to time & time again & the way it feels & smells with it's lovely papery pages makes it all the more special.
Ok so there are a few crafts in there that I wouldn't personally try like embellishing a denim jacket but I think you would find that with any craft book, but there is definitely so much more I would want to do in this book than not!

If you are a seasoned crafter or into upcylcing some of the crafts you will have seen before no doubt & don't need instructions on how to do them but the photos themselves will inspire you I'm sure.

If you are new to crafting & upcycling I'm sure you will love this book.
There is even a little bit a the start of the book on how to 'find junk', perfect if you are a complete novice.
I think the instructions are clear, straightforward & presented well.

Junk Genius is priced at £19.99 but it has over 80 projects & ideas.
It is 192 pages long & has an astounding 250 colour photographs for you to gush over!
It is available from Ryland & Peters & you can find it

If you buy it or already have it, let me know what you think too ...

Exciting news cuties!

Vintage Amethyst now ships outside of the UK!

That's right we've had so many requests over the last 18 months to ship internationally that we've decided to give it another go!

We ship to ...

USA & Canada
Australia & New Zealand
& most EU countries.

We will be shipping with The Royal Mails Airsure service (which is a tracked service) this service does have size restrictions I'm afraid so some items will be too large to be shipped with this sevice but these are stated on the product description.
If you are really desperate to have a large item do contact us as we could ship it with Parcel Force ~ but be warned it will be super expensive I'm afraid.
If you are wanting to order lots & lots of items, again please contact us as your order will be too large for Airsure & will have to go with Parcel Force but we are here to help so just email!

So what are you waiting for, pop on over to the

*Heart Card Holders ~ Perfect Wedding Table Plans*

Hey, looks what's back at Vintage Amethyst!
Yay, it's the wonderful Cream Heart Card Holders.

I know I said in March I was not going to be selling them anymore due to The Royal Mail reducing the size of their parcels & getting rid of the 'Standard Parcel' service as these wouldn't fit into their new size restrictions for parcels & would cost a small fortune to send with Parcel Force!!!

I did think I would be staying with The Royal Mail at that point to send all Vintage Amethyst orders, but I decided to use a courier instead & the courier I'm using can send this size parcel ~ thankfully!!!!

So it's good news, the heart card holders are back!!!
They are such a great item & they are super popular for wedding table plans too.

They are £12 each & you can find them
